is it safe to MIG weld galvanized metal
Because the galvanising will cause problems with contamination of the weld, and the zinc fumes cause problems, normal practice* would be to remove the zinc in the area of the weld and repaint it with a suitable primer afterwards. Old school thing for the fumes was to drink plenty of milk, as the calcium helps, but a good, fresh air supply would be better - READ THIS! - https://www.finishing.com/164/33.shtml
*Had one job where there was a LOT of welding of galvanised steel and we used a specialist welding wire that had a flux core and that allowed good, clean welding through the zinc, can't recall the gas mix. I would suggest you talk to your local welding supplier about your needs as you will have different brands from what is available here.
